This is our most complete journey through Peru. Eleven nights, four cities, two of the world's great trains, and a curated thread of meals, museums and meaningful encounters. The pace is unhurried — we have built in proper time at each lodge — but the breadth is comprehensive. It is the trip we book for travelers who want to understand Peru, not glimpse it.
Below is the structure, condensed. We tailor each version to interests, dietary needs and dates.
Day 01Lima arrival
Miraflores
Met at Jorge Chávez International by your driver. Transfer to Belmond Miraflores Park, overlooking the Pacific. Welcome cocktail, brief orientation. Rest.
Day 02Lima centro
and Larco
Morning in Lima Centro — Plaza Mayor, the catacombs of San Francisco, a coffee at Bar Cordano. Afternoon at the Museo Larco. Dinner at Astrid & Gastón or Maido (your choice; we hold tables three months in advance).
Day 03Fly to Arequipa
The White City
Morning flight to Arequipa. Transfer to Casa Andina Premium or Cirqa, a restored 16th-century building. Afternoon walking tour of the historic centre, including the Santa Catalina convent — a city within the city.
Day 04Colca Canyon
condors
Early departure to Colca Canyon. Lunch at Las Casitas. Afternoon at Cruz del Cóndor for the daily Andean condor flight — among the most arresting wildlife spectacles in South America.
Day 05The Andean Explorer
sleeper train
Board the Belmond Andean Explorer at Arequipa station — South America's first luxury sleeper train. Two nights aboard, climbing across the altiplano, through Lake Titicaca's edge, on to Cusco. Full meals, observation car, complete service.
Day 06Lake Titicaca
excursion
The train pauses at Puno. Private boat to Uros and Taquile islands. The Uros floating reed islands have become a tourist set piece; we take you instead to Suasi or Amantani for an experience that is still substantively local.
Day 07Cusco arrival
Sacred Valley
Train concludes in Cusco. Transfer down to the Sacred Valley, your altitude buffer. Tambo del Inka or Explora for two nights.
Day 08Maras, Moray
Patacancha
Private archaeologist day in the Sacred Valley. Moray, the salt terraces, then up to the Patacancha textile community for an afternoon with weavers who have worked with us for fifteen years.
Day 09Hiram Bingham
to Machu Picchu
Board the Belmond Hiram Bingham at Ollantaytambo for the spectacular journey to Machu Picchu. Brunch en route, transfer to the citadel with your private archaeologist, Circuit 2 afternoon entry. Night at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo or Belmond Sanctuary Lodge.
Day 10Second day
at the citadel
Optional second entry — Inca Bridge route or Huayna Picchu climb. Afternoon Vistadome return to Ollantaytambo. Transfer to Cusco. Belmond Monasterio or Palacio del Inka for the final night.
Day 11Cusco
departure
Morning at the San Pedro market with our chef-friend, breakfast there. Visit San Blas, the artist quarter. Mid-afternoon transfer to Cusco airport.

Customisation
This is a maximally complete itinerary. Travelers comfortable with a longer trip add three nights at Tambopata or Manu jungle lodges (+ USD 2,800 pp). Travelers with less time compress by removing Lima, beginning in Cusco. Honeymoons typically substitute Sol y Luna casita category in the Sacred Valley.
